Agriculture Production
There are lots of agricultural products in Anhui province as well
as large species, it is a very important part of agricultural economy.
At a norma year, there are 8,000,000 hectares of agricultural  cutivated
area, in which 65% grain products, 35% economic and other products.
Main grain products are wheat, rice, maize, sweet potato and other
dry products, in which wheat production takes up 80%. Grain production
is 25,000,000 tons, with 40% commercial rate; Main oil products
are oilseed, peanut and sesame, with 2,900,000 tons total production
and 70% commercial rate; total cotton plant area is 400,000 hectares
with 300,000 tons total production and 85% fo commercial rate; vegetable
plant area is 700,000 hectares with 15,000,000 tons of production.
The others, for example, tea, silkworm, fruit and Chinese medicine
are also important economic products. Abundant agriculture products
resources not only meet the requirement within Anhui province, but
also take important quote both in national and international market,
and some special agricultural products have been warmly welcomed
by internal market consumers.
Livestock production. Anhui is the important agriculture
livestock production province in China, with the main products
as cattle, pig, sheep, rabbit, poultry and bee. At a normal year,
there are 5,500,000 heads of livestock, 18,000,000 heads of pigs,
7,900,000 heads of sheep, 2,400,000,000 heads of poultry and 2,500,000
heads of rabbits, 250,000 nets of bee colonies. Annual meat productions
is above 3,200,000 tons, eggs production is above 1,000,000 tons,
milk production is about 50,000 tons. The development of livestock
not only meet the market requirement, but also becomes the important
industry of agriculture economy.
Fish culture. Anhui is the main fresh water area, with
1,600,000 tons of annual fresh water aquatic production which
ranks 2nd in China. In recent years, special aquatic production
have been quickly developed, whitebait, crab and soft-shelled
turtle have taken big quote in eastern and southern Asia market,
aquatic production process development have become of a new industry
of fish culture.
