General Information
Anhui is located in the southeast of China, near the sea and close
to the Yangtze river, with distinct superiority of geographical
location. It has abundant agricultural resources and a large proportion
of agriculture products. 
There are 139,000 square kilometers of land area, in which : 4.22
million hectares of cultived land area, 3.29 million hectares of
forestry area and 1.05 million hectares of water area. The total
population is over 63,000,000, in which rural population takes up
80 percents.
The climate condition in Anhui province is suitable for agriculture. The annual agricultural temperature is 14-17 degree C. Annual rainfall is 700-1700 mm, annual frost-free period is 200-250 days. Agriculture varieties are rich, ther are 3200 kinds of wild plant varieties and 500 wild animal varieties. Topography and landforms in Anhui province are very complicated,the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers flow through Anhui 416 and 430 kilometers respectively, and the plains, hills and mountains covers 1/3 of the region respectively.
From the beginning of rural reform, agriculture and rural economy
in Anhui province have developed stably and continually. Agricultural
productivity has increased remarkably, this production also takes
an important position in China. In a normal year, grain production
ranks 6th, oil ranks 6th, fresh water aquatic products ranks 4th
in China. Agricultural products export quota takes up above 40
percents in Anhui province. Total value of light textile industry
in which agriculture products as its raw resources takes up 70
percents. So agriculture is the basic industry of national economy.
